A quick crochet update

Milly is peacefully napping (rare these days) so I can quickly add some finished objects. Here is a freeform “helmet” I made for my friend’s one year old daughter (I haven’t gifted it yet but I know she doesn’t see the blog):

I used Silk Garden 87, bits and bobs from a cardigan project I started back in ’05. Unfortunately my old blog is totally gone (the server up and closed and I hadn’t backed up) so evidence of that cardigan online is lost. Milly has a pretty huge noggin so the hat fits her (her head is more like the average 1 year old!)

For this I just started at the top in hdc, working the first 4 rows as rounds and then switching to spiral. My joins never look right for some reason and the join area always bulges out though the stitches are all in the right place. Then I went back and forth once across the back to make it longer and then back and forth on 2 ear flaps. I just tried it on Milly as I went.

Next is the Roselette Top from Chez Plum. I started it in Silk Garden Lite (to get the 6 month size) but it was much too small so I redid it in worsted weight, shade 211:

I have not yet blocked it but I wanted Milly to wear it today as I browse the yarn shop sales. It seems I naver have a finished object to show for all the shopping I do and it would be nice to be in a yarn store with someone in the party actually wearing something made by me. Here is another picture of the sweater, with bonus VINCE

That’s all for now, I have an awful lot more I want to knit and crochet this year – if you are on Ravelry, my username is joydisaster.

yes, it’s malabrigo :^)

Just when I thought it was safe to let my internet connection lapse! Knitted baby gifts!

Milly in her lovely baby surprise sweater lying on her omfg it’s malabrigo blanket! These were knitted by Betsy and hugely appreciated by me! I can’t get my family off of the merino, just look at these babies:

And these kitties:

And so that Zella didn’t feel left out, she is now the posessor of Spiny Norma:

Handknit by Omar and as I understand it, her face was needle-felted by Betsy. She loves SN! Uh oh, watch as Spiny Norma ursurps the baby’s role at every turn – I see a travelling photo subject, yes? You know when someone takes a picture of a character in different places?

OK, a few notes about my blog. I just got internet service again (besides the sporadic service I was freeloading off of my neighbor) and I promise actual self-knitted knitting content very, very soon! I have joined Ravelry and believe it or not, I have been knitting up a storm! Thanks, Boppy :^)

One more thing – I found my old blog (accidentally deleted by Adam but he says he can bring it back again when he “gets a minute”) easy to customize but I can’t seem to work wordpress at all. Can anyone help me with my blog? I can’t even put my patternreview widget in the sidebar. Give me two more days to finish this massive project and I shall return to post it it all of its four-part glory.

friends who knit

… give the best baby gifts! This post is long overdue, but take a look at this handknitted babyloot:

First, Diana sent me this adorable little HEMP sweater – check out the ample shoulder opening with the sweet orange buttons:

It fits her, and the season perfectly!

Next I recieved a soft, cushy blanket from Kathy. Both of my kids love this blanket, actually and now so does Vince!

3 week old Vince is “kneading” the cushiness.

I got these sweet baby shoes from Melissa – they fit perfectly and they don’t get kicked off!

This next picture has a confusing perspective but it has everything in it including Grace and her 3 week old kitten Vince

Thanks so much! I love them all!
